Dear Reader,
We’re just back from an action-packed trip to Scotland’s northwest coast!
On the way up, we stopped at the Rothiemurchus Estate near Aviemore. Cue breath-taking views and convenient doggy day care for our cocker spaniel, Daisy.
We kicked things off with tree-top climbing, led by an instructor dressed head-to-toe as Batman. Full costume. Growling voice. The works. Gavin and Mini McGavin were in their element. Amy, meanwhile, clung to the ropes for dear life.
Next up: pony trekking! Gavin ended up on the biggest horse (Mac), very much channelling Robbie from The Highland Bad Boy. 🐴
Our base for the rest of the trip was a cosy cottage in Inchnadamph—“Meadow of the Stags”—and it didn’t disappoint. Every morning and evening a herd of deer gathered right outside our window.
Daisy quickly claimed her own “stag-spotting” perch.
We explored the ruins of spooky Ardvreck Castle, the Bone Caves (just as eerie as they sound), and the dramatic Smoo Cave. But one of our favourite stops was Balnakiel Beach—golden sand and sea birds on the cliffs.
Perfect inspiration for our next series! 🌊
Update on Series Two
We’re super excited because an illustrator is right now working on the front cover of our next book. We can’t wait to see it (and to share it with you!).
Here’s a sneak peek of the tropes you can expect:
- Single dad swoon 💕
- Grumpy sea captain x sunshiny American nanny 🌞
- Close proximity 🚢
- Found family 👨👩👦🐶
- Nosy seaside town 🌊
And let’s just say the spice is … intense. Opposites really do attract … 😏
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates very soon—both in your inbox and on social media!
