Flowers, fists, and a brand-new cover
Dear Reader,
Last month, we told you we’d got the cover for our next book, The Florist and the Fighter, and that we were a little bit in love with it.
Well, the wait is over. Here it is!

We are SO pleased with how this one turned out, and we can’t wait to hear what you think.
You might have spotted that the cover has a wee theme going on. The tarot cards are the look we’ve chosen for our brand-new When Opposites Attract series, with a card for each of our two leads—here, a posy of flowers for our florist, and a pair of sparring gloves for our fighter. Two very different worlds, side by side.
We’re saving the story details for next month’s newsletter, but just to tide you over, here are a couple of wee teasers.
Our heroine, Briony, is a sweet, sunny florist from Glasgow’s leafy West End, the kind of person who’s so allergic to bad language that her version of swearing is “Shiitake mushrooms!” Our hero is a gritty, tattooed MMA fighter from the city’s East End, who is rather more fluent in the bad-language department. Put them in the same room and, well… sparks fly. And not always the good kind. (At first, at least.)
That’s all we’re saying for now. Pre-order it to make sure Briony and her fighter land on your Kindle the moment they’re ready—and keep an eye on your inbox next month, when we’ll tell you a bit more about what we have in store for these two.

A Wee Bit of Our News
It’s officially summer here, which means the school holidays have begun—and our daughter has officially finished primary school. One minute she was a tiny thing with a too-big bag on her back on her first day; the next, a piper was playing her and her whole class out through the school gates on their final day, while the rest of the school, plus teachers and parents, applauded them. We’re not emotional about it at all. (Okay, we’re a bit emotional about it.)
To soften the blow, the three of us are jetting off to the Greek island of Corfu very soon for a proper sun-soaked holiday. We genuinely cannot wait—sea, sunshine, and not a bit of Scottish drizzle in sight (although, to be fair, it’s actually been gloriously sunny and hot here lately too). We’ll bring back far too many photos and inflict a few of the best on you in next month’s newsletter.
And in football news: Scotland are out of the World Cup. It’s a shame—we’ve been staying up far too late to watch the games, and it’s been a lot of fun—but qualifying at all was a joy. It was Scotland’s first World Cup since 1998! Plus, the Tartan Army (Scotland’s supporters) did us proud—more on their antics below.
Scotland in the News
Scotland fans in Boston gave the city’s statues traffic-cone hats, exporting Glasgow’s beloved tradition across the Atlantic.
The Governor of Massachusetts signed a (tongue-in-cheek) order “legalising” haggis—the dish has been banned in the US since the 1970s.
The ball believed to be the world’s oldest football—dating from the 1500s and found in Stirling—made the trip to Miami for Scotland’s game against Brazil.
xx,
Amy and Gavin
